Values

Jobs.  The development of a ready and well-trained Alaska workforce is crucial to the survival of our economy.  Alaskan jobs should be filled by Alaskans, and Alaskan businesses should not have to look beyond Alaska to find qualified applicants.  We are committed to the goal of full employment.  Every worker, union and non-union is entitled to a living wage and a safe, healthy, harassment-free workplace that promotes equal employment opportunity in all terms and conditions of employment.  We expect the enforcement of nondiscrimination laws and the promotion of Alaska preference in hiring at all levels of the work force.

 Labor. We strongly support the right of every Alaskan to choose to join and/or organize a union, to negotiate and ratify contracts in good faith and to participate in union activities without fear of reprisal.  Negotiated contracts must be honored and enforced free of discrimination by employees, employers, and all branches of government. We Support the Employee Free Choice Act.

Politics. We strongly support Labor Friendly Candidates.

Participation. The Alaska Democratic Labor Caucus is committed to promoting the rank and file members to participate not only in the menial tasks of the labor movement but also to get members the access and means of participating in all spectrums of the process, such as conventions, dinners, Juneau Fly-In, fundraising events, and overall access to union leaders and elected officials.

1. The ADLC believes that good jobs and a safe place to work will keep Alaska a great place to work and prosper, also good jobs will promote strong working families and give them a good quality of life!

2. We support the employee choice act!

3. We support project labor agreements!

4. We encourage and strongly agree to return to a defined benefit program!

5. We strongly believe in strengthening relationships between union members and their own elected union officials!

 6. We are committed to aligning the Alaska Democratic Party and Labor to ensure a secure future for the working families!
