Jobs
The Alaska Democratic Party is soliciting resumes from people who are interested in paid work on statewide and legislative campaigns this year. Please submit resume and letter of interest summarizing your experience and availability to Deborah Williams at dwilliams@alaskademocrats.org .
Jobs (and contracts for services) likely to be available include campaign managers, field organizers, graphic designers, media consultants and producers, web site designers, and data managers.
The Alaska Democratic Party will make resumes submitted available to Democratic candidates. Interviews and hiring will be done by the individual campaigns.
Vendors providing campaign services and materials are also encouraged to submit information about their companies and services.
Internships
We are seeking 4 interns who are interested in learning more about, and working with, the Alaska Democratic Party. Ideally, interns will work at least 4 hours, 3 days a week, and will gain valuable entry-level experience in politics.
A commitment to the goals and ideals of the Democratic Party is a prerequisite. Interns must be organized, responsible, have good oral and written communication skills, and be able to work with others in a political environment. Computer literacy is also required.
Hours are flexible and can be tailored to the student's schedule. All work is voluntary. By arrangement with a school, academic credit may be available.
All interns will perform:
- General office duties
- Phone and volunteer management
- Database entry
In addition, we would like to have one intern each work with specific departments to focus on:
Field Organizing – working with the Statewide Organizer and Coordinated Campaign Director to assist local Party organizations, elected officials, candidates and constituencies of the Party to elect Democrats; training of Party members; voter registration and education; issues conferences, planning and expediting events and many other activities.
Fund Raising – working with the Executive Director on raising the funds necessary to win elections and support the Alaska Democratic Party’s other critical efforts.
Communication – working with the Executive Director and the Technology Director to get the Democratic message out to members and to the public through radio, TV, print media, phone, fax, computer networks and other means, as well as doing issue research.
Technology/Computers – under supervision by the Technology Director, update and maintain the voter database; help manage the party’s web site; create graphics and other computer-generated materials to communicate message and assist field staff.
The main purpose of this program is to present a practical introduction to Democratic politics; help the Alaska Democratic Party; and provide interns with skills and contacts essential to pursue careers involving politics and public service. These are volunteer positions.
